On this date in 1979, Slaughter and The Dogs released their fifth single, "
You're Ready Now". It was backed by "
Runaway". Neither track appeared on an album. The Manchester, England punk band made their post-breakup debut with this single and it was a much softer sound than they had before they disbanded in 1978. At one time, the band began rehearsing with a pre-Smiths Steven Morrissey as replacement for lead singer Wayne Barrett after he left the band. The band would break up and re-form several times over the years. They are currently together and performing live which seems to be an on again, off again thing.
