On this date in 1979, The Freshies released their third 7-inch record, an EP called The Men From Banana Island Whose Stupid Ideas Never Caught On in the Western World As We Know It. It contained the tracks, "Amoco Cadiz", "Children Of The World" and "Octopus". During their career, the Manchester punk/power pop band released several EP's and singles but no full length albums by the time they called it quits in 1982. Compilations of their material were released posthumously.
